Punjab Department of Public Prosecution issued show-cause notices to 450 prosecutors for not disclosing their assets.
Secretary Public Prosecutor Nadeem Sarwar said that these prosecutors had been asked on several occasions to explain their position with respect to concealing their assets, but they did not reply.
The text of the show-cause notices issued on Tuesday states, “Why not disciplinary action should be taken against you (the prosecutors) once, twice or thrice for not complying with the department’s instructions.”
On Monday, 700, out of total 1,200 prosecutors, submitted to the Department of Public Prosecution details of their assets. The department has issued these notices to the prosecutors of grade-17, 18 and 19.
