Police being reformed on modern lines: IG British HC’s JSSP delegation discusses ‘Rule of Law Reform’ program with Inam Ghani

Punjab Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani on Tuesday said that eradication of crime by improving the investigation system and speeding up the process of justice dispensation to citizens is one of the top priorities of the Police.
“The Punjab Police will continue to support the “Rule of Law Reform” program at all levels.”
Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani was talking to the members of a delegation of the Justice System Support Program (JSSP) of the British High Commission at the Central Police Office here on Tuesday. During the meeting, they discussed the ongoing initiatives and efforts under the “Rule of Law Reform” program.
The IG Police pointed out that the “Rule of Law Reform” of the Justice System Support Program (JSSP) of the British High Commission is a useful program and the Punjab Police will extend all-out support for its success.
“The JSSP programme will help improve the Criminal Justice System and Investigation System, leading to speedy justice dispensation.”
The IGP said that Punjab Police is promoting use of modern technology for prevention of crime and execution of investigation process, adding that modern forensic science and geo-fencing have already been engaged in investigation of cases of serious crime. He pointed out that reliance on other modern sciences, including geo fencing, is being increased to leave little room for the accused persons to get off scotch-free. Mr Inam Ghani underscored that with close cooperation among institutions, especially the police and the prosecution, the system of investigation as well as professional matters has improved.
The British delegation briefed the IG Police about the ongoing projects under the “Rule of Law Reform” program and their performance.
The Justice System Support Program (JSSP) officials said that the Justice System Support Program for the Improvement of the Criminal Justice System (JSSP) has been working with the police, prosecution, prisons and the judiciary under the “Rule of Law Reform” program. While working with the support of the British High Commission, the program aims at improving the criminal justice system and investigative system, they said.
Additional IG (Investigations) Fayyaz Ahmed Dev, Additional IG Operations Sahibzada Shehzad Sultan and other officers including DIG IT Waqas Nazir were also present on the occasion.
