The government has ordered crackdown on petrol pump owners to curb smuggled petroleum products. After the notification for crackdown was issued on the directive of the Prime Minister regarding the smuggling of petroleum products, crackdown was started against the smuggled petroleum products under FBR.Smuggled petroleum products worth 2 2 billion are sold annually, causing a loss of Rs. 200 billion to the national exchequer. According to the notification, an operation will be launched against the pumps selling smuggled petroleum products. Rangers, Customs, FC and district administration will take part in the operation. The order said that the pump management would be required to submit all relevant legal documents. In addition to legal action against the pump owners for non-submission of legal documents, petrol pumps would also be sealed. In addition, the data of the informant of the smuggled petroleum products will be kept confidential. A case will be registered under the Customs Act for selling the smuggled petroleum products. Owners of petrol pumps involved in illegal activities will be sentenced to 5 to 10 years in prison, and the property of smuggled products petrol pumps, tankers and smugglers may also be confiscated.
