SACM says Buzdar govt working to provide essential items to public at fixed price

Special Assistant to Punjab CM on Information Firdous Ashiq Awan on Sunday said that miscreants early Sunday morning attacked Lahore’s Nawankot Police Station and abducted DSP and took 12 police personnel with them to their markaz on Multan Road.
Firdous Ashiq Awan clarified, “Police did not plan or conduct any operation against the mosque or the madrassa.
The action, if any, was in self defence and to protect public property.” She said, “Today in the early morning, miscreants attacked Nawankot Police Station where Rangers and police officers were trapped inside the police station and they kidnapped DSP Nawankot and 12 policemen and took them to their markaz.”
Firdous Ashiq Awan said at least one oil tanker with 50,000 litres of petrol has also been taken by the miscreants to their markaz, the TV channel reported. In a tweet, Firdous said, “The miscreants were armed and attacked Rangers/Police with patrol bombs.
Police and Rangers pushed them back and took back the possession of the police station.” Three protesters were killed in Sunday’s action. She said that earlier six policemen were martyred and 700 police personnel have been injured by these miscreants.
The SACM said that the miscreants were armed with petrol bombs and acid bottles and attacked the cops at the police station.
In her Twitter post besides also sharing a statement issued from the Punjab police on the entire episode.
She said the miscreants surrounded the Nawankot police station, where police and Rangers were staying and besides abducting 12 cops including a DSP, their attack led to the injuries to at least six policemen.
“The miscreants also stored 50,000 liters of fuel tanker at their Markaz,” the SACM said while rejecting that the Punjab government initiated any operation against the protestors.
“Police neither planned nor launched any operation,” Firdous Ashiq Awan said adding that the operation was launched in self-defense and in a bid to rescue the abducted cops and safeguard the public property.
She further said that the miscreants had already martyred six policemen and injured over 700 others after the latter tried to dismantle nationwide protests.
Meanwhile, Special Assistant to Punjab CM Firdous Ashiq Awan said that Punjab government is working to provide essential commodities to public at government fixed prices.
Firdous Ashiq Awan, in a series of tweets, said that CM Usman Buzdar is reviewing price and availability of all basic items including flour and sugar at daily basis and he has directed concerned administration to make price control mechanism more
effective.
Usman Buzdar has also instructed officials to ensure availability of all essential products at Ramadan Bazars as well as open market and ordered strict indiscriminate action against all profiteers, Firdous Ashiq Awan said.
The CM’s aide further said that government will soon control inflation with the help of public and availability of items at low price will be ensured.
