Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Sunday declared that a vaccination target of 3.7 million children on daily basis has been set for Measles Rubella Catch-up campaign 2021, being started on Monday (today), which continue till November 27.
“During the campaign, 46.6 million children of age 9 months to 15 years will be vaccinated against Measles Rubella across the province.”
Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid was speaking after the inauguration of mobile van for Measles Rubella Catch up campaign 2021 at the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department here on Sunday.
Special Secretary P&SH Department Saleha Saeed and Unicef Health Specialist Dr Tahir Manzoor were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, the health minister said: “Mobile vans have been designed to create awareness on Measles Rubella campaign.
These vans will travel across the city and carry the message. All stakeholders have important role in holding this campaign.” The minister said that this is a campaign being launched to safeguard the future generations. “I appeal parents to get their children vaccinated.”
Dr Yasmin informed that the PTI government has been focused on prevention right from day one. “We are taking a number of steps to save children from diseases. Rubella can cause lifelong complications if it affects pregnant mothers.
We will continue to take revolutionary measures to save children from diseases.”
Meanwhile, Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid said here on Sunday that Pakistan is witnessing a continuous increase in diabetes cases.
In her message at World Diabetes Day, the Health Minister said that timely diagnosis can help control the disease. She said delay in treatment can have effects on kidney, heart and eyes. Life style changes can help control the disease.
The Minister said that balanced diet sand regular exercise can help control the disease. Diabetes center have been set up in all hospitals. An awareness campaign is being run on Diabetes as well.
