As many as 760 shopkeepers were arrested while finewas imposed on 2475 shopkeepers for violating government approved daily commodities rates, artificial hoarding and price hike across district so far.
District officer Industries, Prices, Weights and Measures (IPWM) Rabiya Naseem told newsmen here on Friday has said that department officials paid as many as 89347 surprise checks across all six tehsils of district Attock and while taking strict action against profiteering have imposed fine of Rs 9.60 million on 2475 shopkeepers for violating government approved daily commodities rates from January to date.
Talking to newsmen she said the district administration was ensuring strict adherence to the rate list of food items in markets to clamp down on profiteering. She said stern action was taken against profiteers in the all six tehsils of Attock district, heavy fines were imposed on the offenders on the spot for overcharging.
