British council launches next generation report 2023

The government has embarked upon aligning the development and public policy with youth by opening new vistas for them through the Public Sector Development program internships initiative. This was stated by the Federal Minister for Planning and Development Prof Ahsan Iqbal while addressing the launching ceremony of the British Council’s next Generation Report 2023 on Friday in Islamabad. The report comprehensively examines the perceptions of the country’s young population between the ages of 16 and 34 with specific focus on their views, values, beliefs, and actions. It assesses in detail the challenges which Pakistan’s youth face today, how it impacts their choices and decisions, and the efforts they are undertaking to transform and improve their lives.
The launch event for the report was attended by Acting British High Commissioner Andrew Dalgleish, Country Director British Council Pakistan, Amir Ramzan, Convener of National Parliamentary Task Force on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Romina Khurshid Alam and other stakeholders from the government, academia and more.
Ahsan Iqbal stressed that the country would get out of the economic swamp if our exports are elevated from $ 32 billion to $ 100 billion in the next five to eight years.
He added that the sustainable and self-reliant economy depends on how fast we could increase Pakistan’s exports as this is the only solution to end our dependence on international financial institutions. He further added that we have to work hard to catch up with the emerging economies in the world adding that the country is presently facing big economic challenges but they are not bigger than our capabilities and resolve to overcome them. This is the time to move forward not to create despondency in the society.
