Sri Lanka’s senior cricketer Angelo Mathews became a father of his fourth child on Thursday, it is learned.
According to Angelo’s father, the player’s wife, Heshanie Silva, gave birth to the 4th child on Thursday.
“She was expecting, and the 36-year-old all rounder rushed to the hospital immediately after the Test match, which the visiting Pakistan team won by four wickets”, another source confirmed.
Earlier, Angelo’s father, Tyrone Mathews, said, ‘the newly born baby girl and her mother are fine in Colombo’s Ninewells Hospital.
Heshanie and Angelo Mathews got married in 2013, and their reception took place at Cinnamon Grand Hotel and then president President Mahinda Rajapakse also attended the wedding. Angelo Mathews and Heshanie Silva dated each other for more than six and half years before getting married in 2013. She is often spotted in stands cheering for his husband.
“We will name the third daughter soon. Angelo’s first child (son) is a good swimmer. Only time will tell whether he adopts this style of cricket like his father”, Tyrone Mathews added.
The team has been granted a rest day on Friday. On Saturday, the afternoon practice (2-5 pm) is scheduled . Angelo Mathews has permission to join the team before that.
