Governor Punjab Muhammad BalighurRehman on Monday attended National Christian National Award ceremony organized by Director Nathaniel Gill at Governor House as a special guest.
Governor Punjab distributed awards to Senator Kamran Michael and others for showing excellent performance in various fields.
Addressing the ceremony, Punjab Governor Muhammad BalighurRehman said that the sacrifices and services of our Christian brothers for the development and stability of the country are unforgettable. He said that the Christian community rendered great sacrifices along with the Muslims in Pakistan’s movement. He said that after the establishment of Pakistan, the Christian community rendered valuable services in education, health, law, and other fields. Governor Punjab said that the freedom and peace with which the minorities are living in Pakistan today is a shining example for the people living in this region. Governor Punjab further said that the doors of the Governor’s House are always open for the minority community. He said that many events of minorities including SP Singha Awards have been organized in the Governor House Lahore so far. On this occasion, Governor Punjab Muhammad BalighurRahman distributed awards to the people who showed best performance in various fields. Among the recipients of the awards were Senator Kamran Michael (Politics), Pastor John AD (Religion), Dr. Simon Alfred (Health), JesbarAshiq (Media), Dr. NayyarFirdows (Education), ADChaudhry (Law), ShaukatMasih (Assistant Commissioner) Zakaria Yusuf. Police) Mrs. NazishAkhtar (Government Service) and Amon Emmanuel (Government Service). Meanwhile, Punjab Governor Muhammad BalighurRehman expressed deep sorrow and grief over the sudden death of renowned scholar, Maulana Tariq Jamil’s son. He said that it is a great tragedy for the family of the deceased. He said that he equally shares the grief of Maulana Tariq Jamil. He prayed that Allah may give patience to Maulana Tariq Jamil and his family on the sudden death of his son AsimJameel and grant the deceased a place in His mercy.
