LAHORE- Prominent Lollywood actresses Ushna Shah and Mishi Khan, along with a multitude of social media users, are leading a boycott against the international fashion giant ‘Zara’ following a contentious photoshoot.
The actresses, known for their activism and vocal opinions, have raised questions about the appropriateness of Zara’s recent campaign.
Ushna Shah, famed for her unapologetic nature and outspoken stance, took to the social media platform X to voice her concerns. In a tweet, she questioned whether individuals should discard their Zara clothing, emphasizing that the brand’s name is not associated with their voices.
She stated, “Should those who own Zara’s clothes throw them away since their brand doesn’t represent our voices?”
Highlighting that the brand does not feature diverse voices on its clothing, Shah urged those with Zara items to consider disposing of them in protest.
Ushna Shah utilized the trending hashtag #BoycottZara, gaining traction on social media platforms, particularly in Pakistan.

The actress’s tweet gained attention as Zara’s recent photoshoot came under scrutiny. The controversial campaign depicted small, shrouded figures resembling Muslim burials in white fabric, alongside depictions of the challenging conditions faced by Palestinians.
In response to the widespread condemnation, Ushna Shah declared her commitment to refraining from purchasing Zara products in the future. Mishi Khan, another Lollywood actress, echoed the criticism, expressing strong disapproval of the Zara brand and pledging not to buy their clothes again.

As social media users united in expressing their outrage over the perceived exploitation of the suffering of innocent Palestinians, Zara reportedly removed the contentious image from its platforms. The image in question featured a model lifting a slim figure, reminiscent of a shroud, on her shoulders—a portrayal similar to how Palestinians bury their children.
Beyond Ushna Shah and Mishi Khan, Indian users collectively displayed their disappointment, questioning the use of Palestinian struggles for the brand’s promotional campaigns.
