LAHORE – Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9 is likely to be affected by rain, the Metrological department forecast.
The MET office forecast that fom the night of February 17 until February 21, thunderstorms, lightning, rain, and snowfall in the mountains are expected in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Lahore and other areas.
The forecast comes at the moment when PSL Season 9 is all set to start today in Lahore.
During this period, scattered thundershowers is expected.
The eyes of spectators are set on the opening ceremony along with the inaugural match scheduled for February 17 (today).
The tradition of releasing a new anthem for PSL every year continues as Ali Zafar and Aima Baig sang the anthem for Season 9.
Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United will lock the horns in the first match soon after the ceremony at Lahore’s Gaddafi stadium.
Lahore Qalandars won the seasons of 2022 and 2023, making them the first team to win consecutive events.
Finishing at the bottom became a norm for Lahore Qalandars, but their fate changed when fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi was made the captain of the franchise on the recommendation of legendary cricketer Imran Khan. Afridi led them to win both trophies under his captaincy.
Islamabad United won the inaugural event of the PSL in 2016 when the entire tournament was held in the United Arab Emirates. Since then, they won the season of 2018, but six years have passed since their last victory.
