A written examination was conducted for recruitment to the Police Department in 26 districts of the province including Lahore, in which thousands of candidates took part.
A spokesperson said that a total of 47,023 candidates took the written exam for 7,909 posts of constable, lady constable, driver constable and traffic assistant. In the province, 36,570 candidates appeared for 6,089 constable/lady constable posts, 1,163 candidates appeared for 190 driver constable posts, while 9,290 candidates appeared for 1,630 traffic assistant posts. In provincial capital Lahore, 5,574 candidates took the exam for 2,951 vacant posts. In Lahore, 4,075 candidates appeared for 2,586 constable posts, 109 candidates appeared for 50 driver constable posts and 1,390 appeared for 315 traffic assistant posts in the written exam. The spokesman said that recruitment to 491 seats in Gujranwala, 460 in Gujarat, 441 in Faisalabad, 367 seats in Rawalpindi, 337 in Sargodha, 231 in DG Khan, 255 in Bahawalpur, 240 in Mandi Bahauddin, 224 in Muzaffargarh is underway.
On the directions of Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, welfare management committee meeting was held at the Central Police Office here, in which cases were reviewed of police officers suffering from medical problems. After scrutiny of the documents, the Welfare Committee has released Rs. 0.9 million for medical expenses to various police personnel. As per details, ASI Fazal Hussain from Bahawalnagar was given Rs. 0.2 million for the bypass operation. Barber Jamshed Khan was given 0.1 million rupees for kidney treatment. ASI Amjad Khan was given Rs. 0.1 million for the treatment of appendix problem. DSP Syed Riaz Hussain Shah from Muzaffargarh Police was given Rs. 01 lakh for the treatment of his wife. ASI Ashiq Hussains wife was given Rs. 0.1 million for knee treatment. Head Constable Muhammad Munir and Retired Constable Riaz Hussain were released Rs 70,000 each for medical expenses. Inspector Irfan Raza and Constable Akbar Ali were given 70 thousand rupees each for the treatment of various diseases. IGP Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that any police officer suffering from any disease will not be left alone in the fight against the disease and the department will support them in every possible way.
Moreover, on the direction of Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana, Lahore police have launched crackdown against kite flying across the city.
