Dr. AzraFazal Pechuho, Minister for Health, Government of Sindh, emphasized the significance of establishing maternal and child care centers in remote and underprivileged areas during the launch ceremony of the “Dr. Aijaz Fatima Women & Children Centre” (AFWCC), a collaborative initiative by Ziauddin University and Dr. Ziauddin Hospital. The AFWCC, launched on the 3rd death anniversary of Dr. Aijaz Fatima, aims to advance research and provide quality care and accessible treatment to women and children. It aligns with the University’s research strength and healthcare expertise.
A multidisciplinary team at Ziauddin University, including various departments, will ensure high standards of care and research at AFWCC. Pro-chancellor Dr. NidaHussain highlighted the center’s role in addressing healthcare needs, emphasizing its significance in improving health outcomes and reducing maternal and child mortality. During the event, Dr. Syed Aziz Rab, CEO of Greenstar Social Marketing, highlighted the alarming rates of maternal mortality in Pakistan, emphasizing the urgent need for initiatives like AFWCC to address such issues.
