Islamabad's Monal Restaurant shuts down in September for Margalla Hills Park preservation

ISLAMABAD – The federal capital’s pictursque restaurant Monal Islamabad is shutting down permanently in September on the directions of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

The hilltop eatery will permanently close on September 11, as Pakistan’s apex court gave ruling to save Margalla Hills National Park.

A recent post shared on Monal social site said confirmed its closure next month. “It’s time to say Goodbye. As per Honorable SCP directions, we are closing on 11/09/2024,” the post said.

Supreme Court gave directives to shutdown all restaurants within Margalla National Park, including Monal, to preserve biodiversity in national park.

The court has ordered all restaurants in Margalla National Park, including the popular Monal restaurant, to cease operations and be removed within three months to protect the park’s biodiversity. This decision aims to reduce human impact and preserve the ecological balance of the area. Monal’s closure marks the end of an era for the iconic restaurant in Islamabad, with no current plans for relocation or future operations outside the park.
