LAHORE – Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced a major relief for female teachers of government schools across the province ahead of reopening of schools after summer break.
The minister, in a statement, said female teachers in government schools will have two days off per week, and their working hours will also be adjusted.
He said the duty hours for female teachers have been reduced by 30 minutes as they will be allowed to leave at 2:30 pm instead of previous timing of 3:00 pm.
This decision was made in consideration of the difficulties faced by female teachers, Hayat said, adding that a notification in this regard will be issued soon.
Meanwhile, there will be one weekly off for male teachers as they will attend the schools on Saturday from 9 am to 12 noon despite holiday for students.

As per the notification, schools operating in morning shift will operate from 8am to 1:30pm from Monday to Thursday while classes will end at 12pm on Fridays.
For double shifts and afternoon shifts, the morning session will be from 8am to 12pm, the afternoon session from 1pm to 5:30 pm, and the evening shift from 2pm to 5:30pm on Fridays.

It also mentioned that teachers at regular schools will work from 8am to 3pm on weekdays and from 8am to 12:30pm on Fridays.
