Italy’s Ambassador to Pakistan, MerlinaAmeline, has emphasized the geostrategic importance of Pakistan, expressing Italy’s interest in enhancing bilateral relations, particularly in the defense sector. During a media briefing on the arrival of Italy’s Warrior Aircraft in Pakistan, she highlighted the shared vision for collaboration in various fields, with defense being a key area of focus.
Ambassador Ameline remarked, “We are well aware of Pakistan’s capabilities, especially in maritime operations, and our goal is to establish defense agreements as strategic partners.”
She further mentioned that the arrival of an Italian aircraft in Pakistan for the first time symbolizes the growing ties between the two nations in the defense sector. In response to a question, the ambassador confirmed that Italy would participate in the upcoming IDEAS defense exhibition in Pakistan. Joining the briefing, Admiral Stefano Barbieri also underscored the significance of cooperation between the two countries, stating, “In addition to defense cooperation, we aim to work together to strengthen Pakistan’s navy.”
He added that the Italian Warrior Aircraft is equipped with advanced capabilities, including jets and missiles, making it a versatile and powerful asset. The engagement marks a promising step towards deepening defense ties between Italy and Pakistan, with both countries exploring opportunities for collaboration in military technology and strategic partnerships.
