Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed the College Education Department to halt alleged irregular recruitment for grade 16 positions. The order comes in response to a petition challenging the department’s hiring process. The petition pointed out that an advertisement had been issued for 251 job vacancies, but the department’s regulations mandate that only 50% of such posts be filled through the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC), with the remaining 50% reserved for promotions.
The plea claimed that the department was disregarding this rule by relying solely on the SPSC for recruitment. During the hearing, the petitioner’s attorney argued that this approach violates the department’s established rules. Taking notice of the complaint, the court ordered the department to leave 125 positions vacant and issued notices to the Chief Secretary and the Secretary of College Education for an explanation.
The petition was filed by an employee of the College Education Department, seeking adherence to fair recruitment practices as per official regulations. The case has been adjourned for further proceedings.
