ISLAMABAD – Authorities in Sheikhupura district announced a local holiday for by-election slated for December 5 Thursday.
A notification shared by the Deputy Commissioner confirmed a local holiday in the city, which is located around 50km from the provincial capital Lahore. The decision was made to facilitate electoral process and ensure smooth operations on the day of the polls.
It said In Pursuance to request made by Additional Director General (Elections). Election Commission of Pakistan. I, Deputy Commissioner, Shelkhupura hereby declare local/closed holiday on 05.12.2024 (Thursday) within the revenue limits of District Sheikhupura on account of Poll Day regarding Bye-Election in Provincial Assembly Constituency PP-139 (Sheikhupura-IV).
Residents and businesses in the area are advised to prepare for the election day, with the holiday expected to impact work and school schedules.
