Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi, Monem Zafar, emphasized that the revival of Pakistan’s export sector depends on improving infrastructure and providing basic facilities to industries in Karachi. Speaking at a furniture expo at the Karachi Expo Center on Saturday, where he was the chief guest, Zafar highlighted the city’s vital role as Pakistan’s economic hub. He stated, “The progress and development of Karachi translates into the progress and development of Pakistan.” However, he expressed concern over the city’s decline, attributing it to 16 years of governance by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), which he held responsible for the current state of Karachi. Zafar explained that due to poor governmental policies, inadequate infrastructure, corruption, and law and order issues, several major industrial units have been forced to relocate from Karachi.
He stressed the need for government intervention to revitalize the city’s industrial base. Addressing the potential of the furniture sector, Zafar urged authorities to support and facilitate the industry to fully tap into its export potential.
He also praised the organizers of the furniture expo, congratulating them for hosting a successful and unique event. Zafar was accompanied by JI leader Qazi Saddaruddin, RF Events CEO Dr. Nazish Faisal, and other dignitaries during the media talk after his visit to the exhibition.
