Google announces Pakistan’s top search trends for 2024

Google has unveiled the top search trends in Pakistan for 2024, reflecting the online preferences of Pakistani users. Cricket dominated Google searches, with the ICC T20 World Cup capturing the nation’s attention. Queries about the PSL 2024 schedule, matches, and star players like Shoaib Malik and Sajid Khan further highlighted Pakistanis’ passion for sports. Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem also gained significant attention for winning the country’s first gold medal in nearly three decades.

Celebrity figures like Saba Javed and Zoya Nasir, Indian business tycoon Mukesh Ambani, and social media personalities Hareem Shah and Manahil Malik were among the most-searched personalities. Pakistani dramas continued to shine, with shows like Ishq Murshid and Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum leading searches. Bollywood films such as Animal, Dunki, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, and Stree 2, alongside reality shows like Bigg Boss and the highly anticipated Mirzapur Season 3, also garnered significant interest.

Food and recipes:

Food-related searches ranged from banana bread and creamy pasta recipes to local favorites like malpura and tawa kaleji. Quick meals like garlic bread and egg noodles, along with seasonal beverages like peach iced tea, showcased the diversity of Pakistani tastes.

Technology:

Interest in AI tools surged, with searches for Gemini and Remaker AI. Queries about the latest smartphones, including models from Infinix, Redmi, Vivo, and Apple, reflected the public’s tech-savvy aspirations.

Farhan Qureshi, Google’s Country Director for Pakistan, stated that this year’s Year in Search report portrays a Pakistan deeply rooted in traditions while eagerly embracing the opportunities of the digital age. He highlighted that Pakistanis are using Google to explore passions, connect with their culture, and shape their future—from cricket fields to kitchens and beyond.

He also emphasized AI’s transformative role in redefining search capabilities, underscoring Google’s commitment to enhancing users’ ability to explore the world around them.
