LAHORE – Positive Change for Educators in country’s most populated region Punjab as the provincial authorities bring Back District Teacher Educators DTE and transfer flexibility.
Maryam Nawaz led government reinstated thousands of District Teacher Educators (DTEs) after eight-year wait. The move, was made on instructions issued by Secretary of Schools Education. As of 2024, there are 4500 District Teacher Educators serving as teachers across the region.
The district educator program was discontinued in 2017, and led to reassignment of educators as regular teachers in various schools. With their reinstatement, these educators will return to their original role of training teachers.
Earlier this year, the government ended ban on transfers facility while educators will need to have a seniority number in order to apply for transfers.
Those without seniority number will not be able to submit transfer requests online, sources said while teachers expressed concerns over the need to visit offices to obtain their seniority numbers.
Under the rules, teachers must have served at least 3years in their current school to qualify for a transfer. Those with less than three years of service are not eligible.
