A significant meeting was held at the Zonal Office on Friday in Karachi, where the National Highways and Motorway Police, South Zone, led by DIG Asghar Ali Yousafzai, engaged with representatives from the Goods Transport, Oil Tanker Association, and Dumper Association.
The primary aim of the meeting was to develop a joint strategy to eliminate overloading and protect the country’s vital highways. DIG Yousafzai emphasized the severe damage overloading inflicts on roads, which in turn burdens the national treasury. He warned that strict legal action would be taken against vehicles exceeding the prescribed weight limits and urged all transporters to ensure their vehicles comply with legal standards, including valid licenses, fitness certificates, and route permits.
“The transport community must play a positive role in safeguarding the country’s assets,” Yousafzai stressed. He also assured transporters that their concerns would be presented to higher authorities. All participants expressed their commitment to working together for the preservation of highways and the reduction of overloading.
