Syed Riaz Hussain Shah Shirazi, the Sindh Minister for Auqaf, Religious Affairs, Zakat, and Ushr, extended a warm welcome to a high-level delegation from the Embassy of Türkiye in Islamabad. The delegation, led by Dr. Abdurrahman Akkush, the Religious Affairs Counselor, along with Deputy Counselor Dr. Alam Khan, visited the Minister’s office to explore avenues of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the fields of religious, cultural, and public welfare.
The meeting, attended by key officials including Auqaf Secretary Javed Mahar, Chief Administrator Auqaf Hyderabad Farrukh Shehzad Qureshi, and Director Administration and Accounts Kashif Siddiqui, also saw the participation of World Foundation NGO Chairman Zafar Iqbal, Dr. Mumtaz Khaskheli, and former Nazim of Malir, Mujahid Jokhio.
Minister Shirazi expressed his gratitude for the Turkish delegation’s visit, highlighting the deep-rooted ties between Pakistan and Türkiye.
Dr. Akkush, in return, expressed a particular interest in Sindh’s historical and cultural heritage, focusing on the regions of Thatta and Sujawal. He pledged Türkiye’s support for the welfare of the people in these areas, adding that he would visit the ancient heritage sites in Thatta to further strengthen cultural collaboration.
The discussions also centered around the importance of cultural preservation and public welfare projects. Minister Shirazi emphasized the value of showcasing Sindh’s rich culture and history to the broader international community. The meeting concluded with Dr. Akkush presenting the Minister with a specially gifted Holy Quran from Türkiye as a symbol of goodwill.
