Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, has responded strongly to a statement made by Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). Sharjeel Memon accused MQM of criticizing the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) as a means to revive its dying political relevance.
“MQM criticizes the PPP only to provoke a response and elevate its own political stature,” Memon remarked. “The people of Karachi now see MQM as a dark past that they no longer want to revisit.” He also emphasized that the PPP does not take any statement from MQM leaders seriously, dismissing their remarks as irrelevant. Speaking about the successful gathering of Karachi’s business community, Memon highlighted that the purpose of the luncheon was to identify and address the issues faced by traders.
“We aim to work together with traders to put Pakistan on the path of development,” Memon stated, adding that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari enjoys strong trust and support from the business community. Traders expressed their gratitude for the improvements brought by the PPP-led Sindh government, including the end of extortion, daily strikes, and other criminal activities.
“Now, traders no longer receive extortion notices, do not have to deal with body bags, and are no longer forced to give away skins for sacrifice,” Memon explained. Sharjeel Memon reiterated that the PPP and the Sindh government’s top priority is to build a prosperous and developed Pakistan, with a focus on transforming Sindh into a model for progress. “Our commitment is to make Pakistan, and especially Sindh, a better and more developed country for all its citizens,” he added.
