PESHAWAR – At least three people, including JUI leader, were injured in a blast at a mosque in an area of South Waziristan on Friday.
The incident occurred in Azam Warsak Bazar area. Police said JUI leader Maulana Abdullah suffered injuries in the attack, adding that all the injured have been shifted to hospital for treatment.
Security forces have cordoned off the area to collect evidence and determine the nature of the blast.
The blast at a mosque come weeks after a suicide blast took place at the Darul Uloom Haqqania in Akora Khattak area of Nowshera district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.
At least six people, including JUI-S Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani were martyred and around a dozen others injured.
A statement issued by the Central Police Office confirmed that the explosion took place after Friday prayer at the mosque and it was a suicide bombing.
