ISLAMABAD – Controversial YouTuber Hassan Iqbal Chishti has been held amid outrage over his content against women’s education.
Amid calls for stern action, police in Punjab detaind Chishti over his repeated sharing of misogynistic content targeting girls’ education.
The songs of the local YouTuber was harmful, offensive, and deeply regressive, while officials removed all clips from YouTube channel of Mr Chishti. He gained public attention last year with his viral song “Othy Dance Kardi Payi Ae”, which insinuated immoral behavior among schoolgirls. He continued to release similar material, going as far as criticizing fathers who send their daughters to school.
The content of YouTuber sparked wave of backlash, prompting calls for legal action whereas Authorities confirmed receiving multiple complaints accusing Chishti of inciting hatred and spreading disinformation.

Last year, Punjab Commission on Status of Women filed an official complaint over one of his videos. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) subsequently launched an investigation into his digital content.
Chishti’s arrest is being seen by many as a long-overdue response to digital hate speech and a critical step toward protecting women’s rights to education in Pakistan.
