Heimtextil, the global industry platform for home and contract textiles and textile design, has appointed Zaki Bashir, CEO of Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Ltd., to its advisory board.
With this appointment, Bashir has become the first Pakistani industry leader to join the prestigious advisory board. It clearly highlights the increasing influence of Pakistan in the global textile sector.
Bashir was warmly welcomed by Heimtextil’s top leadership, including Mr. Olaf Schmidt, Vice President – Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt, Ms. Margit Herberth, Director of Heimtextil, and Mr. Omer Salahuddin, CEO of Messe Frankfurt SP Pakistan.
His selection is being hailed as a significant milestone for the country’s textile community.
The Heimtextil Advisory Board comprises influential figures from leading global textile bodies, including Germany’s Home Textiles Association (HEIMTEX), the UK Fashion and Textile Association (UKFT), and the German Textile Retailers Association. Mr. Bashir’s extensive expertise and leadership in promoting innovation, quality, and sustainability at Gul Ahmed are expected to play a vital role in shaping Heimtextil’s future direction and expanding its global outreach.
Pakistan continues to cement its position in the international textile arena. At the upcoming Heimtextil 2025, the country ranks 4th in global representation with 275 exhibitors.
The next edition of the fair is scheduled to take place in Frankfurt from January 13 to 16, 2026, where Pakistan is set to further strengthen its presence on the world stage.
