If you’re an Android user experiencing unusually fast battery drain, Instagram might be the culprit. Google has officially confirmed that the popular social media app is responsible for excessive battery usage in many Android devices.
The issue worsened last month when users started complaining that their phone batteries were ending in a couple of hours, even without heavy social media use. Users found that Instagram was consuming more power than other apps, despite similar usage durations.
Amid the unwanted situation, tech giant Google acknowledged the problem and linked it to the current version of photo-video sharing platform Instagram – which is currently used by over 1.70 billion people. Although the company did not provide specific details, it urged users to update to the latest version of Instagram, where the issue has reportedly been fixed.
The Latest version of Instagram is being rolled out and should become available to all users in the coming days.
