ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has signaled the possible restoration of domestic gas connections, offering hope to consumers after years of suspension due to the ongoing gas shortage in the country.
Talking to media, the minister said he would request Prime Minister Shhbaz Sharif to approve new domestic gas connections. He added that local gas is not available, and new domestic connections may have to rely on imported gas.
Malik also stated that power plants are not purchasing LNG, and due to this, 400 MMCFD of local gas supply has to be withheld.
Digital Fuel Nozzles at Petrol Pumps
The minister also revealed the federal government has made a major decision to prevent petrol and diesel theft at fuel stations.
He said the government has planned to digitize fuel nozzles at petrol stations to ensure accurate measurement of fuel sold to the customers.
Responding to a question about trade with the US, the petroleum minister said a committee has been formed to increase imports from the United States.
SNGPL Domestic Gas Connection Fee
Following are the security and service line charges for domestic gas connection. The charges for gas connection for plot measuring up to 10 marlas stand at Rs6,000.
Similarly, the charges for plot measuring above 10 marlas stands at Rs7,500, according to official website of SNGPL.
