QUETTA – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Quetta on a one-day visit to participate in a high-level jirga focused on the law and order situation in Balochistan on Saturday (today).
Upon his arrival at Quetta Airport, the Prime Minister was received by Acting Governor of Balochistan Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, and other senior provincial officials.
The tribal and political leaders from across the province will take part in the jirga today.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with the governor, chief minister, provincial ministers and members of the Balochistan Assembly would engage in detailed discussions on the overall security landscape of the region.
During the session, the tribal elders and influential figures from Balochistan would be taken into confidence on various key issues. The meeting is part of the federal government’s efforts to foster dialogue and promote peace and stability in the province.
In addition to attending the jirga, Prime Minister Sharif is also scheduled to visit victims of the recent Surab blast, who are currently undergoing treatment, to inquire about their well-being and express solidarity.
Earlier in the day, the PM strongly condemned the cowardly attack by terrorist elements on banks, innocent citizens and administrative officials in Sorab, Balochistan. The PM paid tribute to Additional Deputy Commissioner Hidayatullah Buledi, who laid down his life while defending his area from terrorists.
He said Hidayatullah Buledi set a high example of bravery while fighting terrorists.
The PM commiserated with the bereaved family of the martyred, and said the entire nation’s sympathies are with his family.
The Prime Minister vowed to continue the fight against terrorism till compete elimination of the menace from the country.
