QUETTA – As government employees of Punjab, federal, and other regions got four holidays, Government of Balochistan officially announced public holidays from June 5 Wednesday to June 8, Saturday.
A notification has been issued in this regard which shows no holiday on June 9 Monday as government opted to start Eid holidays a day earlier. While the federal government declared holidays from June 6 to June 9, the Balochistan government’s notification confirms that the province will return to regular working hours on Monday, June 9.
The decision of provincial administration sparked public debate given the cultural and religious norm of observing all three days as holidays.
Eid Holidays 2025
Eid ul-Azha will be celebrated across Pakistan on Saturday, June 7. According to Islamic tradition, the religious observance of Eid ul-Adha spans three days, during which Muslims perform the ritual sacrifice of animals. Hence, June 8 and 9 are considered the second and third days of Eid, respectively.
Both Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Azha include mandatory holidays for festival day and the two days following it. This latest move by the Balochistan government is going to affect citizens who intend to carry out religious rituals on third day.
