ISLAMABAD – Federal Cabinet approved budgetary proposals for fiscal year 2025-26, with several changes made by Sharif led government.
The approval came after in-depth discussion led by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, who presented the important highlights of the budget to the cabinet members. The meeting was held earlier today, included debates on various financial matters, notably the salary and pension increments for government employees.
Sources claimed that proposal to increase government employees’ salaries by 6pc was discussed. However, some cabinet members pushed for a higher increase, with a proposal for a 10% rise in salaries also being debated.
Budget 2025-26
After deliberations, the Cabinet approved 6pc increase in the salaries of government employees. In addition to this, a 7% increase in pensions for pensioners was also greenlit.
The decisions made during meeting are expected to bring some financial relief to government employees and retirees, who have been facing economic challenges in recent months.
