KARACHI –Chief Minister Sindh today is presenting provincial budget with outlay of over Rs 3,400 billion for the fiscal year 2025–26 in the Sindh Assembly, unveiling a development-centric plan.
Sindh’s 2025–26 budget is focused on modernizing governance and boosting economy. The total budget is set at Rs3,451 billion, with increased allocations for education, health, infrastructure, and welfare.
Sindh Budget marks Rs10 billion increase from last year’s ADP of Rs493 billion. Out of the total, Rs183 billion has been allocated for new development schemes, while Rs45 billion is set aside for a Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) fund to support constituency-based projects by lawmakers.
Each divisional headquarters is set to receive Rs7 billion uplift package, showing government’s push for balanced regional development.

Salaries & Pensions
10 percent increment approved for Sindh government employees while 8pc increase in pensions.
Education
Development allocation is proposed to increase from Rs32 billion to Rs38 billion. College education and universities & boards budgets are set to rise significantly to Rs7.10 billion and Rs7.24 billion respectively.
Health
The sector will see a boost, with its allocation increasing from Rs18 billion to Rs21 billion.
Transport
The development budget is proposed to nearly double, rising from Rs5.84 billion to Rs10.25 billion.
Big Boost for Karachi:
Karachi’s mega development projects have received a massive increase in funding—from just Rs1.38 billion last year to Rs21 billion this year.
Infrastructure and Utilities:

Irrigation: Proposed allocation increased from Rs26 billion to Rs31 billion.

Public Health Engineering: Suggested rise from Rs21 billion to Rs24 billion.
Departments Facing Cuts:
While many sectors saw increases, some departments are likely to face budget reductions:

Local Government Department: Rs74.37 billion reduced to Rs66.11 billion.

S&GAD (Services & General Administration Department): A sharp cut from Rs32 billion to Rs10.91 billion.
CM Sindh emphasized that the budget reflects the government’s commitment to sustainable development, urban infrastructure, and education reform, despite economic constraints.
