LAHORE – Punjab has allocated a record Rs630.5 billion for the health sector in the budget for the fiscal year 2025-26.
Giving details of the allocations for the health sector, Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said that the health sector remained the priority of the government.
As much as Rs181 billion has been earmarked for carrying out development schemes in the health sector. This development outlay is 131 per cent more as compared with the last fiscal year.
Out of the total allocation, Rs 79.5 billion will be spent on the provision of free medicines in government hospitals. As much as Rs109 billion has been allocated for the establishment of the Nawaz Sharif Medical District in Lahore.
Whereas, Rs450 billion has been earmarked for non-development expenditures.
