Friendship with China is a valuable asset for people of Pakistan: Faisal Zahid Malik
Spokesman of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC), Mr Hu Zhaoming held an interactive meeting with representatives of the Pakistani media here at the Chinese Embassy.
Counsellor at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, Mr.Wang Shengjie, was also present on the occasion.
Chairman & Editor-in-Chief of Pakistan Observer, Mr Faisal Zahid Malik represented Pakistan Observer in the interactive session.
The event focused on evaluating shared concerns between the two countries, particularly in context of their bilateral relations, geo-economic interests and evolving security situation in the region.
In his opening remarks, Mr Hu praised the deepening ties between China and Pakistan across various sectors, noting that widespread public support has made their bilateral relationship unique and exceptional one across the World.
The governments and the political parties of the two countries are fully committed to further reinforcing their all-weather cooperative partnership, he added.
Mr Hu Zhaoming who is on a maiden visit to Pakistan, stated that China valued action over rhetoric.
He appreciated Pakistan’s all-out support for China on regional and international issues, particularly at international forums.
Acknowledging past challenges and difficulties in some areas, Hu remarked that these have never been hindered in the repaid growth of their deep-rooted bilateral ties.
Mr Hu Zhaoming, who is also Director General of the Information and Communication Bureau of the IDCPC, stressed the need for a more secure and stable environment, adding that there had always been room for further improvement of bilateral relationship in all areas of common interests.
According to him, without stability and security, economic development cannot be realized.
In order to facilitate more and more Pakistani students at the Chinese universities, we are working to address the language barriers also, he said.
Mr Hu also underscored the vital role of the media, particularly social media, in advancing mutual goals through constructive analysis.
He emphasized that media should come forward further promoting the spirit of friendship and warmth of mutual sentiments at the public level.
He highlighted the significance of youth engagement and bilateral exchanges in sustaining the decades-long friendship.
Addressing on the occasion, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief of Pakistan Observer, Mr Faisal Zahid Malik welcomed Mr Hu Zhaoming, the Spokesperson and Director General, Bureau of Public Information and Communication, International Department of CPC’s Central Committee to Pakistan.
By virtue of his crucial assignment, Mr.Hu Zhaoming has comprehensive knowledge of emerging geo-strategic realities of the region and their implications for bilateral relations between the two time-tested friends, said Mr Faisal Zahid Malik.
While reaffirming the bond of friendship between Pakistan and China, he underlined that Sino-Pakistan friendship was the top priority topic for his newspaper – Pakistan Observer—and the the founding Editor-in-Chief of the daily late Mr.Zahid Malik, remained instrumental throughout his life to promote bilateral ties between the two countries in all spheres of life.
He was an ardent supporter of ‘Look-China’ policy, a concept that proved to be highly beneficial for both countries on different occasions.
My late father Mr Zahid Malik also founded a vibrant platform “101 Friends of China”, which has contributed its share in crystallizing issues of interests during different phases of the bilateral relationship, said Mr Faisal Malik.
On China-Pakistan model relationship he said China is, perhaps, the only country that strictly follows the principle of sovereign equality in the inter-state relations and it has become one of the major factors of Beijing’s growing influence in the world.
As against the policy of confrontation and dictation, China believes in dialogue and conflict resolution.
President Xi Jinping’s vision of shared prosperity is reshaping the global landscape and emerging as a sound basis for a new world order.
This philosophy is behind the monumental success of initiatives like One Belt, One Road; China-Pakistan Economic Corridor; Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank; and the latest initiative of Convention on the Establishment of the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed), aimed at promoting the peaceful resolution of disputes and advancing friendship and cooperation between countries.
As for Sino-Pakistan bonds, I would quote the remarks made by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan Ishaq Dar in Beijing last month (May).
He aptly highlighted that the two countries have maintained close strategic communication on consolidating traditional friendship, strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation, and jointly addressing challenges, which reflects the high level of bilateral relations.
Friendship with China is a valuable asset for people of Pakistan as Beijing not only provided timely economic and financial assistance to Pakistan during difficult times but also showed unparalleled commitment to the cause of Pakistan’s sovereignty and solidarity.
Beijing’s stature as a reliable and dependable partner received a world-wide boost when the defence equipment provided by China played a decisive role in determining the fate of the recent short war between Pakistan and India.
China’s J-10C and PL-15 missiles created history and became symbols of friendship between the two countries.
I met Chinese Consular General a few days after the war who was really impressed by professional competence and proper utilisation of the technology by Pakistan armed forces.
People of Pakistan will never forget the all-out support they received from China during the challenging environment.
