MELBOURNE – Melbourne Stars General Manager Max Abbott unveiled that Haris Rauf is a fan-favorite player of the team, which is why they did not let him go.
“Other bowlers get a chance to learn from Haris Rauf and the players really like him, so they didn’t let him go and won’t let him leave in the future either,” said Max Abbot while talking to the reporters in Melbourne on Friday.
Max Abbot added that even in the draft, they returned the pick to Adelaide Strikers for the same reason—because Haris Rauf is currently in the best form of his career. He is a fan favorite of the Melbourne Stars, and they are excited to see a Haris Rauf Vs Babar Azam showdown at the MCG in the Big Bash League. Surely, Haris Rauf would be aware of Babar’s few weaknesses, which makes them thrilled to have the fast bowler back with the team.
Max Abbott further stated that there is a large Pakistani community here, and it’s great that their favorite players are participating in the BBL this time. It’s very good for the league that Pakistan’s top cricketers are playing. Besides that, the cricket boards of Pakistan and Australia currently have strong ties, which is a positive sign.
He added that the Melbourne Stars will try to maintain the momentum they gained last year.
It may be mentioned here that Lahore Qalandars’ fast bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf achieved a major milestone during the match against Islamabad United in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL X).
Both Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf reached a milestone of 300 wickets in the T20 wickets each.
Shaheen Afridi accomplished the feat in his 216th match, while Haris Rauf achieved it in his 228th match.
Shaheen Afridi became the fastest Pakistani bowler to take 300 wickets in T20 cricket while Haris Rauf became the second-fastest Pakistani to do so.
Previously, Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz jointly held this record, having reached the milestone in 256 innings.
Shaheen Afridi is now the fourth-fastest bowler in the world to take 300 wickets in T20 cricket.
