ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has resumed flight operations for Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, after US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel.
More than 50 flights from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and other cities faced delay after flight operation was suspended following the US attack on Iranian nuclear sites with Tehran launching a retaliatory strike on the US base in Qatar.
A day earlier, the national airline had cancelled flight operations to Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Dubai in view of the situation in the Persian Gulf. It had announced that the decision was a part of precautionary measures.
In a statement issued on Monday, PIA stated that the decision to cancel the flight schedule has been made due to the war-like situation in the Gulf countries. Once the situation returns to normal, PIA flights will be resumed.
The PIA spokesperson requested all passengers scheduled to travel on these flights to obtain timely information regarding their flights from the PIA call center.
Meanwhile, the reservation department has begun the process of transferring bookings to alternative flights.
The PIA spokesperson apologized to passengers for the inconvenience caused by the cancellations and clarified that this decision was made in consideration of their safety.
