QUETTA – Pakistan’s apex moon sighting body Ruet-e-Hilal is scheduled to sight Muharram Moon on June 26 Thursday as Muslims are excited to welcome New Islamic Year.
Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is slated to hold key meeting to determine sighting of Muharram-ul-Haram 1447 Hijri moon. The session will take place after Asr prayers at the DC Office on Sariyab Road, Quetta.
Muharram Moon Sighting
The meeting will be presided over by Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad. Testimonies regarding moon sighting from across Pakistan will be collected and reviewed during the session, following which an official announcement will be made.
Meanwhile, zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meetings will also be held at same time in all provincial capitals, including a session at Kohsar Block, Islamabad.
Ashura 2025
If the crescent moon of Muharram is sighted on June 26, the new Islamic year 1447 Hijri will start on Friday, June 28. Youm-e-Ashura, the 10th of Muharram, a day of profound religious significance, will be observed on Wednesday, July 7, 2025.
Ministry of Religious Affairs has requested citizens to report any credible moon sightings to their nearest district office or committee representative to assist in the decision-making process.
