LAHORE– More intermittent monsoon rains and windstorms are predicted in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Friday night and the next two days.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moist currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate most parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave also prevails over most parts of the country.
Under these weather conditions, intermittent monsoon rains and windstorms are predicted in Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Lodhran, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara, Sargodha, Jhang, Khushab, Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar on Friday night and the next two days.
Heavy rains may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams/hill torrents of Murree, Galiyat and Dera Ghazi Khan. Landslides may cause roads closures in the vulnerable hilly areas of Murree and Galiyat.
Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 34°C and 36°C on Saturday and Sunday, and between 36°C and 38°C on Monday.
Meanwhile, rains and windstorms with isolated heavy falls occurred in parts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Bhakkar remained the hottest place in Punjab, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 41°C. The maximum temperature in Bahawalpur was recorded at 40°C.
In Lahore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 35°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 82 per cent.
