CAN we put our mobiles away this new year and limit ourselves to only calling when it is utmost important? Yes, I realise we will really miss out on hearing from people on the redundant things we get bombarded for no reason.
Lack of communication in this context will give way to more sanity and gathering our broken selves together. So far, I only see it scattered everywhere with so much of unnecessary information in our algorithms leading to chaos and anxiety. The ‘created need’ for being in touch has only led to toxic environment where we now take everyone for granted. We no longer look forward to meeting people in person or even find it fulfilling when we do.
After all there was always work done even before the phone era and for the most part it was not jeopardized and plagiarised like it is today. No, I am not a hater at all but this is coming from somebody who has perhaps just overused it enough to see its downfall. You see there are going to be hiccups without it and that dire need to go back, but that is how we are simply being programmed and channelled to think. Break free and maybe we will finally start healing from the impacts and like all good things must come to end, I feel it is time for our social media engagement too.
While we engage in novel ways with novel applications to achieve that, we have lost the beauty of it all in the process. The creative sequence that our brains would function in a normal setting, has been hindered by the over stimulating use of media. We no longer feel the need to actually think for ourselves when there is readily available information given to us at the tap of a button. The bias the information creates wires our brains and programs it to think how they would like us to think. It is almost like a rat race with a set narrative that is being fed to us.
The depressive state that most of this generation lies in is on account of their screen time. If we do not keep pinpointing it out to them, they may even never come out of the vicious loop. It is like a paralysing force that handicaps you from thinking and from segregating right from wrong. However, there are always going to be people who function on higher frequencies and can decipher the code behind the over stimulation and the faux adrenaline rush caused to blind mankind. To be able to escape this matrix (simulation), we must learn to step out and reclaim our time here in this world and it is as simple as that.
