ISLAMABAD – The civil and military leadership has paid tribute to Kargil Hero Halvaldar Lalak Jan, recipient of Nishan-e-Haider, as his 26th martyrdom anniversary is being observed today (July 7).
President Asif Ali Zardari paying tribute to Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed (Nishan-i-Haider) on his martyrdom anniversary, said that his bravery and patriotism during the Kargil War would always be remembered.
The president, in a message on the martyrdom anniversary of Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed, appreciated his unparalleled bravery, courage, and sacrifice.
He said that the nation honoured the courage and great sacrifice of the great hero of the Kargil War, Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed as despite being severely injured, he held back enemy attacks and sacrificed his life for the defense of the motherland.
“The nation feels proud and salutes our brave son Lalak Jan Shaheed whose sacrifice is a shining example of courage and determination for future generations. His sacrifice will forever be remembered in golden words in Pakistan’s history,” President Zardari added.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that during the Kargil War, he thwarted the enemy’s nefarious designs and made a great sacrifice for the homeland.
The prime minister said that the enemy’s attacks could not undermine the courage of Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed and that his bravery, valour, and dutifulness served as a role model for the younger generation.
“The Pakistani nation can never forget the sacrifices of its martyrs. The martyrs of the Pakistan armed forces and their families are a source of pride for me and the entire nation,” Prime Minister Shehbaz remarked.
He said that the entire nation stood shoulder to shoulder with the Pakistan armed forces in their unwavering resolve to protect the beloved homeland.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Air Staff and the Armed Forces of Pakistan solemnly commemorate and pay heartfelt tribute to Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, honoring his unparalleled courage, unwavering dedication, and supreme sacrifice in the defence of the motherland during the Kargil conflict.
On this day in year 1999, Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed demonstrated extraordinary valour by fearlessly repelling enemy attacks and defended his post despite sustaining critical injuries. Refusing evacuation, he continued to fight until he embraced martyrdom in the line of duty.
The Armed Forces of Pakistan and the nation, remember his sacrifice with immense respect and gratitude. His legacy remains a beacon of inspiration for present and future generations of Pakistan Armed Forces.
“We reaffirm our resolve to uphold the sacred trust of the martyrs and continue the Shuhada-e-Pakistan mission of defending the motherland with courage, dedication, and honour,” ISPR said in a press release.
