PESHAWAR – Intermittent rains and windstorms with isolated heavy falls are predicted in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday night, Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents penetrate most parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave also affects most central/southern parts of the country.
Under these conditions, intermittent rains and windstorms are predicted in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swabi, Peshawar, Mardan, Hangu, Kurram, Kohat, Waziristan, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan on Monday night and the next two days. Heavy rains are also likely at isolated places during the period.
Heavy rains may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Galiyat, Manshera, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi and Mardan. Heavy rains may also cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Nowshera and Peshawar.
Peshawar’s maximum temperature is expected to remain between 33°C and 35°C on Tuesday and between 34°C and 36°C on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, rains and gusty winds occurred in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours.

Chitral remained the hottest place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 38°C. The maximum temperature in Bannu was recorded at 36°C.
In Peshawar, the maximum temperature was recorded at 35°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 56 per cent.
