In a major strategic move, Iran has completely phased out its reliance on the United States’ Global Positioning System (GPS) and has adopted China’s BeiDou global navigation system for both civilian and military applications, the Iranian media reported.
The decision comes in the wake of recent drone attacks on Iranian military installations allegedly carried out by the local Israeli agents using GPS coordinates to target key sites.
Iranian security analysts believe the continued use of the US-owned GPS network compromised the confidentiality of sensitive military operations as data could potentially be intercepted by adversaries such as Israel.
In a bid to safeguard national security and maintain operational secrecy, Iran has opted for the Chinese BeiDou system, which offers an independent and secure alternative to Western navigation networks.
Earlier, Israel started the war by attacking Iran while Iranians fought well and successfully defended their motherland. Even US President Trump publicly acknowledged that Iran fought valiantly.
However, lack of cyber security or poor mechanism caused a huge loss to Iran after which they made this decision.
It may be mentioned here that the cyber security has become main concern in major conflicts for the countries.
