ISLAMABAD – A local court in Islamabad on Tuesday ordered to block 27 YouTube channels for their involvement in spreading anti-state content.
Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah issued a two-page verdict on the plea moved by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
“The YouTube incharge officer is directed to block 27 YouTube channels,” the judge ordered. The judge also held that the court is satisfied with the evidences provided by the agency regarding the anti-state content on YouTube channels. The FIA, according to the court, started inquiry into the matter on June 2 and presented sufficient proofs regarding the anti-state content.
The court further held that the FIA has full authority to take action against them.
Many YouTube channels have already facing tough actions in the country as the followers cannot access them while being in Pakistan. Some YouTubers have fled the country and broadcasting their content from abroad.
However, the technical experts believe that the YouTube channels cannot be blocked until and unless the YouTube management is approached to block them.
It may be mentioned here that YouTube is the best platform for many to learn new things and enjoy quality content from around the world.
