ISLAMABAD – Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, one of the country’s top businessmen and former president of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has been appointed as Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Tourism.
The Prime Minister’s Office has issued the notification. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has been pleased to appoint Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan to the position with immediate effect. The appointment has been made in honorary capacity, showing government’s intent to leverage his extensive experience in the tourism and hospitality sectors.
Sardar Yasir called on PM Shehbaz Sharif earlier this week, where two discussed matters related to tourism policy, investment opportunities, and sectoral development. The premier stresses revitalizing tourism industry and expressed confidence in Sardar Yasir’s ability to lead strategic initiatives in this regard.
The notification further stated that all relevant stakeholders have been directed to extend full cooperation to the newly appointed Coordinator to facilitate his role in advancing Pakistan’s tourism potential.
The appointment of Sardar Yasir is said to be part of the government’s broader push to attract investment and boost economic growth through tourism.
Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan is the CEO of Centaurus and Mövenpick. He has done master’s in business administration from Kingston University London, graduated with a commendation on his thesis and BBA from the American University of Dubai graduating with honors. A young and dynamic leader who is actively involved in diversified business activities, having a vast array of experience in developing renowned projects around Pakistan and the Middle East including retail, hospitality management, residential and commercial ventures. He has been called an innovative reformer in the business field and he has given special attention to promoting real commerce and trade in the region. He has received various awards in recognition of his great services for the business community and the country including several accolades by the President of Pakistan.
As a visionary businessman he has developed the first 6 star hotel of Pakistan managed by Accor through their brand Mövenpick besides many other ventures.
