PESHAWAR – More intermittent rains and gusty winds with isolated heavy falls are likely in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday night and Friday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents penetrate most parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave also affects the upper and central parts of the country.
Under these conditions, intermittent rains and gusty winds are likely in Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swabi, Peshawar, Mardan, Hangu, Kurram, Kohat, Waziristan, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan on Thursday night and Friday. Isolated heavy rains are also likely in upper districts during the period.
Heavy rains may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Galiyat, Manshera, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi and Mardan. Landslides/mudslides may cause road closures in the vulnerable hilly areas. Heavy rains may also cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Nowshera and Peshawar.
Peshawar’s maximum temperature is expected to remain between 31°C and 33°C on Friday and between 32°C and 34°C on Saturday.
Meanwhile, rains and gusty winds occurred in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours.

Dera Ismail Khan remained the hottest place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 37°C. The maximum temperature in Chitral was recorded at 35°C.
In Peshawar, the maximum temperature was recorded at 32°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 75 per cent.
