LAHORE – Rising Pakistani wicketkeeper-batsman Haseebullah Khan has strongly refuted rumours suggesting he has left Pakistan to pursue a long-term cricketing career in England.
The speculation on social media recently claimed that the 22-year-old had moved to the UK with the intention of joining English cricket through long-term residency.
However, in a statement posted to his Instagram story, Haseebullah dismissed the reports as completely baseless.
“I want to inform everyone that I am in England only for my domestic county contract and other professional commitments,” he wrote.
“I remain fully committed and passionate about representing my country, Pakistan.”
The young cricketer urged fans not to pay attention to false claims circulating online.
“I request everyone to ignore such fake news and rumours. Pakistan Zindabad,” he added.
The clarification came after a viral Facebook post alleged that Haseebullah had held meetings with agents of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) regarding his future in English cricket.
It may be mentioned here that Haseebullah has played three T20 Internationals for Pakistan, and made 36 runs at an average of 12.
He was also part of the Quetta Gladiators squad in the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he played a single match and scored 7 runs.
Despite limited opportunities at the international level, Haseebullah proved himself as one of Pakistan’s promising young talents in the wicketkeeper-batsman role.
