ISLAMABAD – More monsoon rains with scattered heavy and at times hefty falls are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of Pakistan on Monday evening/night, Tuesday and Wednesday with occasional gaps.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a low-pressure area presently located over northwest Madhya Pradesh (India) will likely affect Pakistan during next 24 to 72 hours. Strong monsoon currents are expected to penetrate the central and upper parts of Pakistan due to this weather system. A westerly wave also affects the upper parts of the country.
Under these conditions, significant monsoon rains with scattered heavy and at times hefty falls are likely in the twin cities and most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and northeast/south Balochistan on Monday evening/night, Tuesday and Wednesday with occasional gaps.
Heavy to very heavy rains may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Murree, Galiyat, Manshera, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan, northeast Punjab, Kashmir and Balochistan. Heavy rains may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera and Peshawar.
Islamabad’s maximum temperature is expected to remain between 34°C and 36°C on Tuesday and between 33°C and 35°C on Wednesday.
Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature is expected to remain between 34°C and 36°C on Tuesday and between 33°C and 35°C on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, rains and gusty winds occurred in upper/central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, southeast Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan during the last 24 hours.

Dalbandin, Jacobabad, Rohri, Dadu and Nawabshah remained the hottest places in Pakistan, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 43°C.
In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 36°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 68 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 35°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 63 per cent.
More widespread monsoon rains likely in Pakistan till July 17
