RAWALPINDI – Indonesia’s Minister of Defence Lieutenant General (r) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, visited General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where he held a high-level meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
In a statement, ISPR said Indonesian Defence chied led a delegation comprising senior officials from Indonesia’s armed forces and intelligence agencies, as he discussed avenues for strengthening bilateral defence collaboration and enhancing strategic ties between the two countries.
During meeting, both sides shared perspectives on regional security dynamics and stressed importance of mutual cooperation in maintaining peace and stability across the region. Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to expanding military partnerships with friendly nations, highlighting historical ties and trust between Islamabad and Jakarta.
Minister Sjamsoeddin praised the Pakistan Army’s achievements in the fight against terrorism and reiterated Indonesia’s resolve to further deepen military-to-military engagement and joint defence initiatives with Pakistan.
Sjamsoeddin’s visit is seen as part of broader efforts by Pakistan and Indonesia to advance security cooperation in the face of evolving regional challenges.
