LAHORE – Intermittent monsoon rains with heavy and at times hefty falls are expected in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Tuesday night and the next two days.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a well-marked low-pressure area (LPA) currently lies over north Rajasthan (India) and is affecting eastern parts of Punjab (Pakistan). Under the influence of this weather system, strong monsoon currents are expected to penetrate the central and upper parts of Pakistan during the next 24 hours. A westerly wave is also present over the upper parts of the country.
Under these conditions, intermittent rains are expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Taunsa, D G Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Kot Addu and Layyah on Tuesday night and the next two days.
Heavy and at times hefty rains are likely in northeast/central Punjab, Pothohar region, Murree, Galiyat, Multan, Khanewal, D G Khan and Kot Addu. Heavy rains may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, and hill torrents of D G Khan. Heavy rains may cause urban flooding in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha and Faisalabad.
Lahore’s maximum temperature is expected to remain between 31°C and 33°C on Wednesday and Thursday and between 33°C and 35°C on Friday.
Meanwhile, rains with isolated heavy falls occurred in Lahore and parts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

In Lahore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 32°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 92 per cent.
